How CCTV Installation Actually Works — Step-by-Step for First-Time Buyers

If you've never installed CCTV before, the process feels opaque. Here’s the entire flow, in plain English, so you know what to expect.

Step 1 — Free site survey

We visit your property and:
- Walk around with you to identify every angle you want
- Photograph likely camera positions
- Note cable routes (false ceiling, beams, conduits, surface casing)
- Identify power-point locations
- Check Wi-Fi coverage for mobile viewing

This takes 30–60 minutes for most homes.

Step 2 — Custom quote

You receive:
- Camera count, locations, model numbers
- DVR/NVR model and HDD size
- Cable length estimate
- Itemised pricing
- Recommended add-ons (motion siren, extra storage)

We do not pressure you to confirm immediately. Take the day to compare.

Step 3 — Confirmation & scheduling

Once you confirm:
- We block an installation day (usually same week)
- A 25–50% advance secures the slot
- We carry all hardware on installation day — no second visits for missing parts

Step 4 — Installation day

A typical 4-camera install runs 4–6 hours:

1. Hour 1: Cabling from camera positions to DVR location
2. Hour 2–3: Camera mounting, weatherproofing, lens angle adjustment
3. Hour 4: DVR setup, HDD installation, power-up
4. Hour 5: Live-view testing, recording verification, time/date setup
5. Hour 6: Mobile app setup on your phone, walkthrough

Larger sites (8+ cameras) take 1–2 full days.

Step 5 — Mobile app handover

Before we leave:
- Hik-Connect / gDMSS / iVMS-4500 installed on your phone
- Username + password set by you, not us
- Live view tested on Wi-Fi and mobile data
- Two user accounts created (admin + family)
- Motion alerts tested

Step 6 — Paperwork

You receive:
- GST invoice
- Camera + DVR warranty cards
- AMC option sheet
- A simple user guide (Marathi / Hindi / English available)

Step 7 — Post-install support

We follow up:
- After 7 days — “any issues?”
- After 30 days — health check call
- Whenever there’s an issue — same-day response

What can delay installation?

- No power point near DVR — we run a new line, adds 1–2 hours
- No conduit access — we use surface casing, adds time + ₹2,000–₹4,000
- Multi-floor cabling — needs ceiling access, adds time
- Wi-Fi can’t reach DVR location — we suggest a mesh router

We always flag these during the survey so you’re not surprised.

How to prepare your property

The day before installation:
- Move furniture from corners we’ll cable through
- Empty cabinets near the planned DVR location
- Keep one power socket free
- Have your phone charged with 4–5 GB data free

What does “same-day installation” really mean?

For most Pune residential addresses confirmed before 11 AM, we can survey + install on the same day. For commercial sites or societies, the survey is same-day; installation is scheduled within 24–48 hours.

Want to schedule a survey?

WhatsApp us your address and best time and we’ll lock a survey slot.

FAQs

Q: Can I be present during installation?
A: We recommend it — you decide camera angles, and you’re the only one who knows your routine.

Q: Does drilling damage walls?
A: We use 6 mm bits and standard wall plugs. Holes are small and patchable. We use cable conduits to avoid extra drilling.

Q: Will it work during a Wi-Fi outage?
A: Yes — recording continues on the DVR/NVR locally. Only mobile viewing needs internet.
